DESCRIPTION
Belden RG11, 14 AWG solid copper-covered steel inner conductor with Duobond quad shielding coaxial cable for superior transmission of C/Ku-Band satellite signals and OTA terrestrial antenna signals.
Recommended for cable runs exceeding 200ft. This coaxial cable has a thicker inner conductor than standard coaxial cables such as RG6 and is used by cable head-ends for MATV signal transmission to maximize the carrier-to-noise signal ratio over long distances.
This cable has 2dB less power attenuation per 100 ft than a standard coaxial cable (e.g. RG6) and will make a major difference in signal propagation over long cable runs. Most digital receivers require a minimum signal power of 6dB above the noise floor for proper decoding. If your dish provides you with a 16dB signal (above noise floor) at the LNBF, then a standard coaxial cable (RG6) will cause the signal to attenuate to 4dB over a 200ft run and make it undetectable by the receiver. An RG11 cable on the other hand, because of its much lower signal attenuation, would cause the signal level to drop to only 8dB after 200ft and it would still be detectable by the receiver.
The best strategy for a successful C-Band installation is to locate the dish as close as possible to your house (and receiver) and avoid as much signal attenuation as possible. If this is not possible, and you must use a long cable run, we recommend you use RG11 low-loss coaxial cable and consider upgrading to a larger aperture size dish like a 10ft or 12ft.
If you currently have a long cable run using standard coaxial cable (e.g. RG6) and some weak transponders are on the threshold of detection and occasionally pixelate, upgrading to RG11 cable will solve your problem.
You may also consider using RG11 cable for long OTA terrestrial antenna runs, especially where no pre-amp can be installed close to the antenna.
This cable is cut-to-length and price is quoted in USD/ft.
